View Full Version : Fish Vet in Maryland?
I have a fish that is very sick and I need to see if I can find a fish vet in Maryland or advice on where to take her for help. My guess in she needs to have a scraping for definate diagnosis. She has had a cloudy eye for a while then had a hole forming in her tail fin. If you know of someone in Md that can help please let me know. She has become very sick in the last two days. I put her in a sick tank and medicated with malachite is the correct?
Peace

Hi Meg,
Welcome to CMAS. I am guessing the fish you have is a freshwater species? Where did you get the recommendation to use Malachite green?
As for Fish Vets, unfortunately not too many Vets go into fisheries management, or at least in this area. However, some of the retailers have decent people on staff with med/disease experience. You can try Exotic Aquatics off of Perring Parkway (ask for Mark) or the Aquarium Center off of Liberty Road (ask for Jamie). You can also try House of Tropicals, but I am not sure who you would ask there.
What type of fish is it?
Size of tank?
How long has it been in the tank?
Other fish in the tank?
How often do you perform regular maintenance? i.e. Water changes? With "cloudy eyes" I am guessing this is the direct cause of the problem, more than likely bacterial.
tons more questions to ask without pics, but at least a start http://www.cmas-md.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
