Hello Everyone,
My name is Mark and I live in Round Bay, Md. I started a reef tank about a month and a half ago. I currently have a 55 Gallon Reef Tank and a 35 Gallon Saltwater Fish only tank. Since my tank is new I haven't started adding coral yet. Basically, all I have now is Live Rock, Base Rock & Live Sand and some fish and inverts. I just wanted to introduce myself and try to find out more information about your group because I am possibly interested in joining. If anyone is interested in seeing my tank I have pictures and some informational stuff up on my website at My Webpage (http://www.geocities.com/roundbayreef) Hope to talk to you soon attml (Mark)

Mark,
Welcome! The group has meetings every month during the fall, winter, and spring months and has weekly tank tours during the summer (except this year, we only has a few participants). Most of the meeting are at the National Aquarium in Baltimore on Sunday evenings from 7PM-10ish. This year all the speakers are scheduled already so by contacting Tom Walsh twalsh@curley.loyola.edu you can get more specific info on membership and the meetings. If you decide to join you can recieve discounts at most all local fish stores in the Baltimore and DC area. Not many members use this board (at least don't write replys or new topics) for some reason but a few of us do. The meetings always have frag swapping and it's a great place to meet new people and get great info about the hobby.
I checked out your website and it looks like your tank is coming along nicely. Congratulations!
George

Hi George,
Thank you very much for the information on your group and for the kind words about my tank!! I am very interested in joining and will probably be submitting my form this week. Since I have set up my tank I have met some very sharpe hobbist that I have posted back and forth with online, but I would like to meet some experienced hobbyist in person as well.
Thanks again for taking the time to reply and I hope to talk to you soon. Take care!

Mark,
I too, have a fairly new reef tank setup. Last month was my first CMAS meeting and it was great.
I learned a great deal about fish nutrition and ended up leaving with a piece of rock with about 20 button polyps on it. http://www.cmas-md.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif .
Hope to see you at the next meeting.

Thank you Mike! I am going to be e-mailing Tom Walsh this week to find out when the scheduled meetings are and submitting my membership form. I have seen a lot of other areas that had local Reef Groups and I wondered if there was anything locally here in the MD area. I just happened to stumble on the CMAS website because of a post on another board. I am really excited to talk to some of the local folks about their tanks and what is working well for them! hope to see you at the next meeting! Thanks for taking the time to post! Take care!
The next meeting is this Sunday at the National Aquarium in Baltimore at 7http://www.cmas-md.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif0PM. If you look at the CMAS homepage there should always be an announcement for the next meeting.

Well I'm not sure why my last post came up as an unregistered user but there it is.

Unfortunately, I am away camping with my wife and kids this weekend but I hope to make the meeting after that. Thank you very much for the information! I will check back for the meeting after that. Take care!
